Well, the weekend long thunderstorm that I was looking forward to only ended up lasting a handful of hours. But that didn't keep me from making this a cozy little weekend. There was food, walks, laundry, and time spent with friends. Some girlfriends and I got together to watch The Big Wedding. This movie is chock-full of actors that I love--Diane Keaton, most of all.

For breakfast Saturday morning, I decided to try something new (for me) with my grapefruit. I've always seen bruleed grapefruits on brunch menus, but have never tried it myself. So, I gave it a shot.
Here's what I did, then I'll tell you what I should have done...
After cutting the grapefruit in half, I sprinkled sugar on top. I preheated the oven to broil, set the halves in a small baking dish, and set it in the oven for 10 minutes. I noticed the edges starting to burn, so I panicked and grabbed it out of the oven--probably a little too soon. It was still delicious, though.
What I should have done? I probably should have left it in there a little longer, since it didn't really matter if the edges were burnt. No one eats that part anyway, right? Or, I could get one of these... We got one for my dad many years ago to support his creme brulee habit. Looks like it might be time to get one for myself.
